California Dream

Soz for the MIA happened once again, blame the school works! Hope y'all have had an awesome Chinese New Year and let's not stop the good food coming! Btw, one thing has crossed my mind the other day, am I the only one still addicted to Ferrero Rocher? Because I, swear to god, have devoured 2 entire boxes of Ferrero Rocher in one week but the bae just didn't quite understand this obsession, I mean seriously?! Anyway, enough bullshit, let's jump right into this blog…

Although The Diner is located in the middle of Soho, it's not that easy to find them as they are on a quiet street away form the hustle and bustle. The only clue I could tell you is it's located besides Ovolo Hotel Soho and Cafe O, you can go up the escalator next to dragon-i.

Never been to the States but the interior looks pretty authentic American diner to me. We adore the floor tiles!

The All-American $118; The Dime Burger $139; S'mores Milkshake $78

The All-American
Normally I order a full breakfast when I feel like a boring person or I am really hungry, like really hungry. This is a pretty average full breakfast; egg, bacon, sausage, toast and hash browns (but no baked beans ugh!) There's really not much to say about this, prob not the dish I'd come back for.
One side note: don't wait till the last minute to finish the pancake because it'll get cold and hard and taste disgusting!

The Dime Burger
I wouldn't say this burger is amazing but for a Sunday afternoon when you were so hungry because you woke at 2pm and not eaten all day, it's definitely good enough. The only thing I have to criticise is the patty being a bit under-flavoured. I actually really liked the sides, the chips were crispy and hot and the coleslaw was sour and refreshing, perfect for a heavy meal.

S'mores Milkshake
This needs no fancy title, just simply a glass of goodness! This is certainly not that sorta milkshake for everyone, it's very dangerous yet very delicious. It's got a very strong vanilla base with chocolate syrup, and to top it off with the indulging marshmallow fluff, very sweet and fattening #calories #noshame! It would be even better if they add a handful of cinnamon crumbs on top nom! However, $78 for a cup of milkshake? I mean it's certainly a cup of pricey milkshake.

This is random I know, I only took this photo because I found this seat pretty bad ass! This place is a perfect place for fam jam on a Sunday afternoon. Pretty much that's it, hope you all have had a fantastic weekend!

Pizza Because Why Not

Soz for being super MIA these days, you gotta bare with a PR student that has 3 assignments due at the same week and 2 more exams the following week sigh! I also missed out a Christmas party with loads of yummy food, not to mention partying with a model... thanks uni! Anyways, we were meant to upload this last week but better late than never *wink*

We've been to this pizza place a while back and we loved it! This time we went back again for the calamari, okay, call me square, I'm basically one of those people who order the same dish every single time, I mean what's the point of trying something else when you have found something you like so much. #sorrynotsorry

This pizza place is located on Tai Ping Shan Street which is quite hidden but if you know where Tung Wah Hospital is, they are located right opposite the hospital! Oh and it's just behind one of our favourite restaurants, de amazing Corner Kitchen Cafe which we've done a write up about, make sure you check it out if you haven't already!

They have some of the most welcoming staff we have ever met. Like they came to fill our glasses for more than ten times within 2 hours, probs because they could tell we're blogger by the camera? But we were absolutely flattered #lolz

All pizza were freshly made and baked from their
brick oven and this is why the crusts are perfectly charred.

I'm never a beef person nor a big fan of eggplant and tuna so the shrimp pizza was the only option left for us haha but it didn't disappoint us, it was actually rather good!

We didn't have enough time to finish a feast because we were gonna watch Hunger Games afterwards whoop whoop! But let's be real, you could never finish a whole pizza on your own, could you?

The set lunch came with either salad or soup of the day. We didn't feel like having asparagus soup so we went for the salad which was actually not too bad but it didn't wow us. It was rather refreshing as it's got a mixture of sourness and spiciness together.

Calamari Fritti

Calamari Fritti is one of our most frequently ordered starters, so were not particularly anticipated when we ordered it, but when we had our first bites, we knew we'd order this every time when we are here. We HATE rubbery and tough calamari rings, but these rings were firm yet tender at the same time. The batter was light and crispy but didn't feel greasy at all. The only fault was that some of the batter was detached. Oh and just look again, see how each calamari ring was deep fried to a perfect golden brown. But wait till i finish the best bit, the two sauces that came alongside! The white one is aioli which had a lovely creamy flavour with a subtle note of lemon zest and garlic. The brown one was an insanely good Thai-ish chilli sauce. It was one of those taste-bud awakening flavours. The sauce was sweet but with a gorgeous kick of coriander, lime and spice. It was so good that we even dipped our pizza with it.

Shrimp & Chorizo with Avocado Base Pizza

If you have never had any pizza besides those from Pizza Hut, you will never understand how amazing these freshly baked pizza are, or in fact how rubbish those from Pizza Hut are. We ordered pizza both time; t
he first time we had Applewood Smoked Salmon Pizza and this time we had the lunch special which was the Shrimp and Chorizo Pizza.

The dough of the first pizza was perfectly baked, looked amazing, smelled even better. We loved the slightly chewy texture. It wasn't too dry and it had a really attractive charred aroma, love that! The second one, on the other hand, was slightly disappointing because of the burnt edges which tasted a bit bitter. A good pizza should have a rich blend of flavors. Low sodium pizza is just not right. The sauce base for both pizza was delicious. The first one had a classic tomato base which was overwhelmingly rich and most importantly it has enough acidity (it's just a personal preference). The second pizza has a milder avocado base because of those yummy salty chorizo.

Less than 15 days left till Christmas people! If you're watching those Zoella's Christmas vlogs to get in the holiday/ Christmassy spirit, you're not the only one *wink*. Can't wait to do nothing but stuff myself with all the yummy food and get fat and shit! Who's as excited as we are? *high five*

Perfect Saturday afternoon at Corner Kitchen Cafe

We have walked past this cafe for several times and every time we walked past, we stopped to lift up our head. The first time we stopped because of the wonderful smoky aroma of grilling meat; the second time we walked past, the handwriting on that big black menu board caught our eye (maybe the ginger guy too shh...); the third time we passed by, we heard some lovely Filipinos ladies (or Thai?) singing loud in the kitchen!

The cafe is located right opposite Hollywood Road Park; next to 208 Duecento Otto as well as a coffin shop, for those of you who can read Chinese might have already noticed it. #lolz

The atmosphere of this cafe was pretty laid back and the staff looked like they've just seen Kim K's full frontal (please google it yourself lol), they looked super chuffed! & those cakes inside that fridge, we're so coming back for them.

They have more seats available upstairs. The view is actually quite nice as you can overview Hollywood Road Park. I could just sit there with a glass of iced lemonade and daydream whole day.

We were just overwhelmed by their menu because they have so many options for brunch (was dying to try the scrambled egg, feta cheese and avocado wrap). However, it was already half 3 when we got there so there was no brunch for moi! BUT! We wouldn't have tried the two yummy burgers we had - Juicy Beef Burger ($108) and Salmon Burger ($125).

Juicy Beef Burger
While we were deciding what to order, we saw this lady sitting behind feasting on a beef burger with lava-like cheese oozing down the sides. We looked at each other and we knew we were gonna make some delicious mess.

We usually avoid ordering burgers because not only it takes a lot of effort to eat but also we have had too many terrible burgers. The beef patty is the soul of a burger and this beef patty, I mean this juicy beef patty, is exactly how a good one should be. It has subtle herb undertones; the edge is crunchy; the inside is moist and a little bit pink; and it has the perfect thickness. The melting cheese was magical - it was so gooey and rich. Together with the caramelised onions, strip of bacon, fresh lettuce and tomato, it was a Perfect-10-beef-burger.

Save the best for last - Salmon Burger
This salmon burger was EVERYTHING! When I say EVERYTHING, I MEAN EVERRRYTHING! This was prob my first ever salmon burger & I loved it! Salmon was on point, just simply amazing. It was beautifully pink, the meat was tender and moist, tasted nothing like it’d been frozen and it went perfect with the red onions and the watercress (or rocket it is).

To top it off with the refreshing wasabi mayo which I found quite unique, is it just me or you all have never had wasabi mayo? It was surprisingly good, no joke! One word, amazeballs!

Not to mention those beautiful crispy, golden brown sweet potato chips on side, need I say more? You gotta try it yourself!

Oh! They also do private parties too. We happened to see a father bringing in dozen of cupcakes with his daughter holding countless balloons as we left. Should be a fab place for great fun & giggles with sweet company.

It was overall a pleasant experience we had in this cozy place, we highly recommend this cafe for all occasions, this is just a perrrfect place for everything! We are definitely coming back for more!
